Our May General Membership Meeting was a tremendous success, with Mayor Evan Piper as our guest speaker delivering an informative and candid presentation.
Mayor Piper provided an overview of the various activities occurring at city hall, touching on many important topics. Among these were finance-related issues such as capital improvement projects, the five-year CIP plan, the master plan, an updated fund balance policy, and updates on our state audit. He addressed staffing issues, emphasizing the need to replenish positions lost due to previous management practices, and gave us a collective bargaining update.
Additionally, Mayor Piper highlighted the police department’s new software system designed to improve communication, shared our lower crime statistics, and emphasized the department’s dedication to securing vulnerable areas of our community in light of global events. He also discussed the economic status of our city, stressing the importance of supporting local NMB businesses.
Furthermore, Mayor Piper underscored the need for civic engagement and encouraged citizens to join various city boards. He highlighted the value of knowledgeable residents volunteering their time to support elected officials who may lack expertise in certain areas important to the stability of our city. He also announced an upcoming Residents Academy, which will offer participants a behind-the-scenes look at the operations of the City of North Miami Beach.
We thank all the residents that were able to attend this meeting. Stay tuned for upcoming speakers featured at our Monthly General Membership Meetings and as always…..Wake Up NMB. Let’s continue to shine a light on local government.
