First WakeUp NMB Meeting of 2026

WakeUp NMB held its first General Membership Meeting of the year this past Monday night. Our Open Mic agenda gave members a chance to hear updates on city business and share their experiences, concerns, and suggestions. We were pleased to be joined by Commissioner Smith and Commissioner Su, who understand the importance of hearing from residents across the city and value the input that helps them better serve their constituents.

Topics raised included the need for a forensic audit of the 65-page ARPA report, which included $500,000 allocated to a Home Rehabilitation program. Residents expressed concern that money from the general fund was used to pay for the program and questioned how the funds were allocated, whether they were used appropriately, and if any ARPA funding needs to be returned. Speeding, a long-standing issue in our city, was once again raised, reflecting its ongoing impact on neighborhoods. Citizens also shared their excitement about moving forward with the city under the leadership of the new manager. After recent events, residents voiced concerns about potential consequences for speaking up.

It was a productive meeting, and as always, our Open Mic provided an invaluable space for residents to be heard. We look forward to continuing the conversation at future meetings and working together to strengthen our community.
